Koh Kood 🏝️🫶
Thailand's hidden island gem
I haven't seen every corner of Thailand yet, but of all the islands I've visited so far, there's one that has particularly touched me: Koh Kood . For me, this island is the jewel 💎 among the Thai islands —not too big, not too small, not overcrowded. Simply just right.
An island like something out of a picture book 📸
What makes Koh Kood so special for me? It's this serene tranquility 🧘 that immediately surrounds you as soon as you step off the boat. No high-rise buildings, no party areas, no shopping malls. Instead: white beaches with powdery sand , crystal-clear water , palm trees swaying in the breeze – a paradise that seems almost unreal. 📸🏝️
The beaches on Koh Kood are among the most beautiful I've ever seen. Whether at Ao Tapao Beach, Klong Chao, or Ao Prao – turquoise waters await you everywhere , inviting you to swim, snorkel, or simply float along. And if you're looking for a place to forget the world and just unwind , Koh Kood is just the place.

Less is more
🌴🥥 One of the reasons why Koh Kood remains so special is its limited infrastructure . There is no big city, no noisy party zone, and only a limited number of resorts and accommodations. This makes the island a bit more expensive 💵 than other Thai destinations – but trust me: It's worth it. If you have a specific hotel or resort in mind, you should
📱 Book early – especially during peak season, availability can quickly become limited. However, if you're a bit more flexible and have a bit of an adventurous spirit, you can also find smaller, charming accommodations off the beaten track.
My insider tip: The off-season
☝️A little tip: The off-season can be magical . Sure, it can rain occasionally – but that's when Koh Kood reveals a completely different, almost mystical side. And you often have the beaches almost to yourself. Prices are lower, and the island is even quieter – perfect if you really want to switch off.
Conclusion: Koh Kood is not a place for everyone. But that’s precisely what makes it so special. If you’re looking for mass tourism, you’ve come to the wrong place. But if you want to experience an authentic, relaxed island that lets you breathe deeply , 🧘♂️ then you’ll love Koh Kood – just like me. Would you like to add photos or recommendations for resorts, beaches or food? Then just let me know – I’ll be happy to help you fine-tune it. When you hear Thailand, you think of Phuket, Koh Samui or maybe Koh Phi Phi. But few people still have Koh Chang on their radar, but this is changing, even though it is the second largest island in Thailand 🏝️ and is full of surprises. It lies in the east of the country, close to the Cambodian border, and belongs to an archipelago with Koh Mak and Koh Kood – two smaller, much quieter islands.
Resort:
🛖🧘♂️🪷 Which I can recommend to you based on my own use and experience.
Hotel Shantaa Resort, Kho Kood
Resort Review: An Oasis on Koh Kood 🌴
For me, Koh Kood is the jewel of Thailand's island – and the resort where I stayed perfectly rounded off this experience.
🛏️ 3 stars? Very low-key
Officially, the resort only has a 3-star rating , but that doesn't do it justice. It's idyllically located , nestled in tropical nature, and boasts an atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease. No show, just genuine hospitality and a genuine sense of well-being.

🥐 Breakfast with a view
The breakfast was excellent —fresh, varied, and lovingly prepared. And all with a view of palm trees and the sea. This is how a day should start.
At first I was skeptical because breakfast was served with a la carte, but ordering more gin went smoothly and when I asked, I was told that this was an attempt by guests to order more consciously so that there are fewer leftovers.
🌴📸🛵 Traveling with your own scooter
A particularly practical feature: The room comes with its own scooter, allowing you to explore the island comfortably and flexibly – a real plus.
💵 Higher price, but more value
Like almost everything on Koh Kood, this resort is priced on the high side . But it's worth every baht. Those seeking peace and quiet will find a little oasis to unwind here —perfect for detoxifying from everyday noise and sensory overload.
Conclusion: This resort is more than just accommodation. For me, it's a place to let go, recharge, and enjoy – a clear recommendation for anyone who wants to truly experience Koh Kood.
✅ Conclusion: Koh Kood is my jewel and always worth a trip
The clocks tick differently here, and you'll be hard-pressed to find parties and nightlife. Explore the island by scooter, discovering one beautiful beach after another. Enjoy the sunset in the evening, then go out for a good meal, savor Thai cuisine, and do nothing. Take a few days.
